The Unmanned Surface Vehicle (USV) is a fully autonomous catamaran developed for the purpose of towing a side scan sonar during search and rescue operations. With a length of 2 metres, width of 1 metre and weighing 40 kilograms, it allows for easy handling on and out of the water. The vehicle is controlled autonomously via GPS, with optional camera and LIDAR for simple obstacle detection and avoidance. It has a cruising speed of 2 knots with a three hour continuous operation endurance.
