Mechanical Engineer (Hands-On Design Track)

Job Summary: We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer who enjoys both designing and building — someone who thrives on the principle of “Build what you design”. This role is ideal for individuals who begin with a strong hands-on foundation and aspire to evolve into full-fledged design engineers. You will start with a balance of 50% technician work and 50% design work, learning directly through physical builds and prototypes. By the third year, you will progressively transition toward 80% design and 20% hands-on activities, becoming a key technical contributor and mentor to others.

Key Responsibilities:

Mechanical Design & Development (initially 50%)

· Develop and refine mechanical designs and concepts using CAD software (SolidWorks preferred).

· Participate in the design, drafting, and detailing of mechanical components and assemblies.

· Support design validation through analysis, tolerance checks, and fit verification.

· Collaborate with Electrical, Controls, and Manufacturing teams to ensure system integration and manufacturability.

· Maintain documentation for BOMs, drawings, and revisions.

Hands-On Build, Assembly & Testing (initially 50%)

· Assemble and test mechanical systems and prototypes.

· Conduct mechanical troubleshooting and functional testing of assemblies.

· Provide design feedback based on real-world build experience.

· high-quality workmanship and attention to detail in fabrication and assembly.

Progressive Role Evolution

· Year 1–2: 50% hands-on, 50% design (learn through build-test-iterate cycles).

· Year 3 onward: 80% design, 20% hands-on (design validation, mentoring, review).

· Grow into a self-reliant design engineer capable of leading design tasks and project builds.

Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering, or a related field.

· Mechanically inclined and able to translate design intent into physical builds.

· Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

· Enjoys both hands-on and conceptual design work.

· Team player with curiosity and initiative to learn through doing.

· Able to work effectively in a multidisciplinary environment.
